Geoffrey has been interacting with the dolphins in Bimini and White Sands Ridge since he was 10. This is his 22nd year with Dolphin Expeditions...
Geoffrey was raised on a boat from childhood and has lived his life on the sea. He has been a skipper for several trans-Atlantic crossings as well as cruising and working boats throughout the Bahama Islands all of his life. His concern for the safety of his passengers, crew and the dolphins takes priority above all else.
Geoff started his swims with the dolphins at the age of ten, while living each summer in Bimini with his family. The years since have instilled him with a deep love and respect for nature, especially for the wild dolphins. As well as an accomplished sailor, Geoffrey is also a clinical hypno-therapist, body worker, breath worker and energy worker.
'There is no place in the world that feels more like home to me than in Bimini. With it's marine life, beautiful reefs, long sandy beaches and the native islanders.'
'Since the passing of my mother, that's mom on the left, having an interesting hair day. The dolphins have become my primary family and I feel blessed. Its a privilege and a joy to be able to share this life with others.'
'Whether watching the dolphins from Indigo or our custom launch. Or becoming a part of the pod while swimming with them. The eye-to-eye contact, the sense of feelings that pass between each dolphin and perhaps those of us in the water are unique to the individual.'
The crew (like our guests) are made up of an international assortment of men and women. Their roles vary from cooking, operating and maintaining the boats, to assisting guests who may need a hand in feeling more comfortable while swimming in the sea for the first time. Their common bond is a love for the dolphins and to be able to share that experience...
We are your dolphin dream team in the Bahamas.
This season we are proud to have Terri returning after joining us half way through our 2009 season. She is no stranger to Bimini, or our dolphin family. She has been on island for the past few years and you can easily see the love the dolphins and Terri have for each other, it's magical...She has been nicknamed "Ocean Woman, Mermaid and Dolphin Girl...her joy in sharing in our guests' delight in connection with all our amazing ocean creatures is a high priority in her life...
As with most of our crew, Terri is multi- talented and overqualified to be here...
She is our head chef. Turning out home cooked meals that rival the dolphin experience-so our guests have said..including our home made ice cream...her secret ingredient is ...love...
Sailing on the ocean since she was six months old, Terri’s love and knowledge of ships and the ocean will aid in your safety and comfort both on the boat and in the water.
Whatever your skill level, our whole crew is always there to help make sure that you always feel safe and comfortable in and on the water...
Terri is scuba certified and has enjoyed diving in many places around the world including Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, Mexico, Vancouver, and the Bahamas. She has developed a talent for freediving as well, and this past season did a personal best of 94 feet. Terri will be your main safety swimmer in the water to help you feel at ease and to make the most of your dolphin experience.
Terri is also our massage therapist on board she was trained in Vancouver, Canada, with the highest training standard in all of North America, is a registered massage therapist and instructor for over 15 years. She has developed her own combination of techniques that will have you melting into bliss. Whether you leave your stress on her table on the first day or integrate the dolphin experience with her massage and energy work on the last day, your week won’t be complete without a session from her magic hands.
This is Terri on the left with one of her dolphin friends--
Terri is also studying to receive her 200 ton captains license by the time our season starts...thats a biggie...
We are excited to welcome back Capt. Jerry.
Jerry was with us 10 years ago when we ran two custon Trimarans on the White Sands Ridge dolphin grounds. He ran the "Calypso Spirit".
When he left us, he built an eco-lodge in Costa Rica on the Pacific side and worked with dolphins and whales.
There really isn't anything that Jerry can't or hasn't done.
He was raised in a treasure hunting family--their boat was the 156' sister-ship to Jacques Couesteaus' ship the "Calypso". Which Jerry ran from 1969-1984. Jerry loves to share his tresure hunting stories in the evenings and has a few real pieces of eight to go with his tales...
When Jerry isn't running Indigo, he is our main safety person on the dive deck- helping everyone safetly in and out of the water and keeping head counts to be sure that everyone is safe and happy.
Jerry is a USCG licensed Captain, certified diver, certified in diesel repair, certified Medic first aid. To go with all of that he has a heart as big as his Fred Flintstones' feet and is an excellent free diver also....
On the left, that's Jerry and his 14' Tiger Shark. We were able to play with them when we hosted the BBC on Indigo in October at Tiger Beach while they were filming a series called the "Deadly 60". A series to teach children the realities of what we have been told is dangerous--the sharks are not...they are amazingly wonderful and beautiful animals...
